Saucering a drink!
I had an elderly resident from my place of employment visit with me about some childhood memories. She said they categorized pie at home as a finger or a fork pie. A cream pie would be a fork pie and a fruit pie with two crusts would be a finger pie. Also they saucered their coffee. I guess the coffee was too hot and by putting it on the saucer it would help to cool it off. They would slurp/drink it from the saucer. Things have changed, but stayed the same. We can have iced coffee to drink with a straw or just in a cup and we can eat a fruit pie from Dolly Madison, (or various other bakeries), with our fingers.
