Camo Soap

Camo Soap---Does it blend into the background?  Charcoal is added to the soap  where the gray part of the soap is.  This is to absorb body odor.

Another rose Sunday Undie---A Loop is on one end and a dangle on the other.  It can be hung by the loop and if you want to hide the loop during use, it can be tucked under and it looks invisible.

I was wondering if anyone out there has the dating after 50 thing figured out.  The ones you are interested in dating are not interested in you.  The ones that you are not interested in dating are interested in you.  Some are too shy to approach another so they miss out on happiness.  Some are too forward and and they scare away happiness.  My late husband was ill for many years so I prefer not to date older men.  For that reason, I may miss my opportunity at happiness.

This week I had a date cancel because I was not going to hop on the back of his motorcycle and drive off into the sunset.  I do not spend all of the time and effort getting ready for a date just to have the wind in my hair and bugs in my teeth.  Why do men think that women should hunt, fish, camp and do hobbies with them?  I don't know any man that will knit, spin wool, or make soap with me.  My son told me that it was, "his loss and my gain."  He was right, we spent the evening together and I am sure it was more intelligent conversation.

I am on Plenty of Fish dating site.  It is amazing the men that contact me and don't talk with me again after they find out that my 18 year old son is not moving out and going away to college.  Not all children are college bound.  My son has special needs.  He may live with me for many years.  I state this information in my profile.  Do they not read profiles, or do they think everything is a lie like in their profile?  Again it is their loss.

If you have this dating thing figured out, let me know.

Lemon Chiffon Soap

Lemon Chiffon Soap in molds and setting up.  I tried to take a picture of the soap in the dark since I put some cosmetic grade glow in the dark glitter on the top.  My camera kept flashing and covering the flash did not work.  You will have to take my word for it that the soap glows in the dark, or at least until you purchase a bar for yourself and test it out.  The center picture is lemon chiffon soap with antique lavender rose soap chunks mixed in.  Chunks are always interesting in soap.

Corset Ain't Much

I found  this little gift card in an antique store.  Isn't it adorable!

Corset Ain't Much......But Hope You Like It!

While I was shopping in Hutchinson, I found a shop called Tea Celebrations.  Since I make tea cozies and other items for the tea table, have a teapot and tea cup collection, and of course drink tea, I had to check it out.  I picked up some White Lemon Cream tea.  It sounds yummy, but I looked through the ingredients.  They include, Jasmine, orange peels, lemongrass and lemon bits.  My brain is functioning now.  I have lemongrass essential oil and lemon essential oil looses the smell very quickly in soap, so many people use lemongrass in soap.  I have been looking for yellow items to make a lemon soap.   I ordered mica, yellow glitter, and glow in the dark glitter.   I ordered a lemon chiffon fragrance too.  I can't wait until everything arrives so I can make lemon chiffon soap!!!
I also found something else at Tea Celebrations.  I found a single teapot and cup decorated with purple roses.   I thought it would look nice for taking  pictures while displaying my new antique lavender rose soap.  The napkin is an antique hankie with purple roses and the hot pads are antique too.

Mashed Potatoes

I picked up some mashed potatoes and chicken yesterday at a local fast food chain.  My son's comments as he was eating the potatoes was the resemblance to grandmother's mashed potatoes and his yearning desire to visit grandma's house for her great mashed potatoes and her early breakfasts when she cooks eggs, toast, bacon, and hash browns.  Obviously I am not cooking lately.

Antique Finds

Goat In Cart
During a recent antique trip, I stumbled onto a couple of finds. One was a white porcelain tub with red trim. I plan to display my soap in the pan. The best find was a tea towel with a goat in a cart embroidered on it. I think displaying the goat milk soap in this pan with the tea towel would be cute. What do you think?

New Platter
Old Plate
I have been looking for plates with cottages on them.  A couple of years ago I found one with a crack on it.  Until now, I haven't seen another one.  This one is a platter and made by the same company.  This will fit nicely with my cottage collection!

Also, I made a batch of  Antique Lavender Rose soap.  Even with titanium dioxide to whiten the soap, it will be an antique lavender color.  The soap is setting up and I will cut it tomorrow.
Antique Lavender Rose Soap Ingredients: sunflower oil, coconut oil, lard, goat milk, lye, water, castor oil, shea butter, fragrance oil, essential oil, grapeseed oil, titanium dioxide, palm stearic acid, liquid silk, coconut milk powder, mica, pigment, cosmetic grade glitter

I wanted to put a stamp on the side of my soap.  I have a sunflower, but I wanted to put a rose on the soap. Some of the stamps are expensive and I didn't want one just like everyone else.  My sister also makes soaps, (Banks of Noon Botanicals), and she suggested that I glue a button to a dowel rod and make a stamp that way.  It works perfect!  Thanks sis!
