Home Made Pie

This photo is of my cousin and aunt.  My aunt is holding a pie she made.  It was taken at my grandmother's home in Downs, Kansas.  See the coffee pot in the far right on the table.  I love the apron!

I tried to merge my Microsoft word file with this blog.  I worked for a couple of hours and finally gave up for now.  I copied an antique doily and tried to merge a photo inside it.  The file is in my Microsoft word file and it turned out perfect, but I can't show you in this blog.  Maybe some day I can get them to merge.  LOL  Here is the doily............

I hope you had a great weekend.  I baked two batches of cookies and canned applesauce.  What fun things did you do?

The photo above is of my uncle, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and great-great-great-grandmother.  The oldest one on the left looks like her teeth are missing and it is so adorable!!!!!!!!!!!
We may not all be beautimus in everyone's eyes, but we all have beauty!

Apron Strings

My son thought the hat went with the apron when I was modeling it.
I finally finished an apron I started about 3 years ago.  My mom and I made the design so it would fit a larger woman's figure.  I had other apron strings to sew on, and a different design for around the neck. The black lace was next to the unfinished apron and it just looked so good together.  Of course, I placed black lace ties on the apron and around the neck I added lace with elastic.  I gathered the fabric around the front of the neck and used seam binding to face it.  There are darts at the side and the front waste is gathered with elastic stretched out as it is sewn across, making it gather.   I really like how this turned out.  I do have strawberry buttons to sew on, but they are in my storage locker.  If only I had a lot of money and a house large enough to house all of my crafts and hobbies.............Maybe that desire will have to be for another life time.   I guess I could just ask for a wealthy man on the internet.......The kids think I should just ask for what I want.   This evening we went to WalFart (sorry, but my pet name).  Mr. G yelled out the window at an attractive man walking by, "Hey, My mom thinks you're hot."  The man got in a nice little sports car and drove by the van twice---once real slow.  Mr G said that I should have engaged him in conversation.  I told him as soon as I said anything, he would ask me "How much?"  We were at the WalFart on Broadway, so what did he expect?  LOL

Aprons

Have you noticed that aprons are not made for curvacious women.   I recently made a half apron which is large enough for most plus size women.  It is made with 100% cotton fabric, and an up-cycled white cotton doily is used for a pocket.  I added 3 small decorative buttons on the pocket flap.  (This apron along with others will be available on my website shortly.)   I originally planned to up-cycle some white pillow cloths with embroidery, but my mother reminded that most people would not want a white apron.  Unless it is a decorative apron, white would not be a good choice.  I remember reading about a group of Amish women wanting to wear print clothing so stains or dirt would not be as visible as with a solid color.  That is so true.  Have you noticed a t-shirt with a grease stain and how it stands out like a soar thumb?  I think the apron turned out nicely.   Behind my model is a display of auction finds.  Thank you for viewing my blog.  Blessings to you and yours!
